H.I.G.H.

Substance intoxication is a type of substance-induced disorder which is maladaptive, impairing, and reversible, and associated with recent use.

Usually known by colloquial terms such as 'high', 'stoned', 'baked', 'blazed', etc.

If the symptoms are severe, the term "substance intoxication delirium" may be used

High Times - Cannabis Cup 2003

The High Times Cannabis Cup is the world’s preeminent Cannabis festival. Founded in 1987 by Steven Hager, the High Times Cannabis Cup takes place each November in Amsterdam.

The event allows judges from around the world to sample and vote for their favorite marijuana strains.

These judges-at-large decide the Cannabis Cup (overall winner in the cannabis strain competition), best new product, best booth, best glass, best hash and best Nederhash.

A team of VIP judges decide which seed company has grown the best marijuana.

The High Times Cannabis Cup also includes live music, comedy and an expo for marijuana-related products from cannabis-oriented businesses.

Beginning with the 6th Cup, Hager began fusing counterculture spirituality into the event and using the time 420 (cannabis culture) as an important ceremonial moment.

"Most of what I learned about spirituality came from Stephen Gaskin and Ina May Gaskinand from attending National Rainbow Family Gatherings," says Hager.

Marijuana use is decriminalized in most parts of The Netherlands.

Much of the marijuana present at the Cup is from the different coffee shops around Amsterdam.

Usually the High Times Cannabis Cup features a surprise strain of marijuana that is new to the culture and will be tested by the judges.

Many tourists go to Amsterdam specifically to attend the festival.

Recently, High Times created the Medical Cannabis Cup – an event that celebrates the medical marijuana movement in America.

The first High Times Medical Cannabis Cup took place in San Francisco, California June 19-20, 2010

Fuelled by prejudice, hysterical propaganda and political opportunism undeterred by voices of reason on the subject, we follow the story of a costly and futile crusade against a substance with questionable ill effects that has damaged basic civil liberites.

Emperor Of Hemp

When Jack Herer died on April 15, 2010, the world lost a true American Original. He was one of those larger-than-life kind of guys. When he walked into a room he owned it. You couldn't take your eyes off him. And you couldn't ignore him either ... he wouldn't allow it.
Jack's entire being was defined by his cause, and his pledge to fight every day until cannabis was legal, until he was dead, or until he turned 84. Jack took that pledge seriously and never stopped fighting, literally giving his last breath for the cause.
We decided to honor our friend Jack with a Memorial Tribute Edition of our "Emperor of Hemp" DVD. We went back through all of Jack's original interview footage and found a few never-before-seen gems, 20-plus bonus minutes of classic Jack at his fiery best.
